Text Frames
Create and edit rich text notes in Frames.
Text Frames provide a rich text editor for creating text-based references. They support formatting, links, lists, and tasks.
Rich Text Editor
Text Frames include a formatting toolbar at the top of the Frame:
The text editor supports basic markdown formatting. Type or paste markdown syntax and it will automatically convert to formatted text (e.g.,
**bold**, *italic*, # Heading, - list items).Bold, Italic, Underline
Apply standard text formatting with ⌃ B , ⌃ I , or ⌃ U .
Links
Insert hyperlinks with ⌃ K .
Headings
Create different heading levels with ⌃ 1 , ⌃ 2 , or ⌃ 3 .
Lists
Create numbered lists with ⌃ 7 or bullet lists with ⌃ 8 .
Task Lists
Add checkable task items with ⌃ 9 .
Working with Links
Auto-Detect Links
When you paste a URL into a Text Frame, Refbox automatically detects and converts it to a clickable link.
Insert Links
- Select the text you want to link
- Press ⌃ K
- Enter the URL
- Press Enter
Open Links
Hold ⌃ and click any link to open it in your default browser.
Task Lists
Create task lists to track work:
- Click the task list button in the formatting toolbar
- Type your task items
- Click checkboxes to mark items complete (clicking again removes the checkmark)
Context Menu Actions
Right-click a Text Frame to access:
Copy Text
Copy all text content to your clipboard.
Save As
Export the text note to a file on your computer.
Lock
Lock the Frame to prevent keyboard or mouse interaction.
Reset
Reset Frame size and position.
Close
Close the Frame.
Unlike other Frame types, Text Frames don't support rotation, flip, or grayscale transformations since they contain editable text content.
Tips and Best Practices
Auto-open new notes in
Settings > Behavior to automatically open newly created text Assets in a Frame.Use headings to organize longer notes and make them easier to scan.
Add links to references by pasting URLs directly - they'll automatically become clickable.
Create task lists to track your goals, todos, or reminders.
