Gallery View

Browse all your Assets in a full-screen view.

Gallery View is a full-screen view of your current Box that displays all Assets in a browsable grid. It's perfect for getting an overview of your collection, finding specific Assets, and reorganizing your references.

Toolbar Button
Click the Gallery icon in the Toolbar.
Keyboard Shortcut
Press A to open Gallery View.
This shortcut is customizable in Settings.
Close Button
Click the Close button in the Gallery controls.
Keyboard Shortcut
Press Esc to return to your workspace.

Opening and closing Gallery View

Gallery View offers two layout modes for different browsing needs:

Grid View

Structured rows and columns with consistent spacing. Assets are arranged in an even grid, making it easy to scan through your collection systematically.

Masonry View

Staggered columns that maximize space efficiency. Assets flow naturally based on their aspect ratios, creating a Pinterest-style layout.

Switch between modes using the Gallery controls or the context menu.

Gallery View supports multiple ways to navigate through your Assets:

Zoom

Zoom In/Out
Wheel Z Drag to change the size of Assets in the gallery. Behavior depends on your Gallery Scroll setting.

Pan

Pan
Space Drag Wheel Drag to move around the gallery when zoomed in.
Middle-Mouse Pan
Middle-mouse + drag to pan (alternative method).

Reset View

Double-Click Reset
Double-click anywhere in the gallery to reset zoom and position.
Reset Button
Click the Reset button in the Gallery controls.

Zoom in to see Asset details more clearly, or zoom out to get a bird's-eye view of your entire collection.

Reordering Assets

Rearrange your Assets directly in Gallery View:

In Grid View

  1. Hold Shift
  2. Drag an Asset to a new position
  3. Release to drop it in place

Your new order is saved automatically and reflected in the Box sidebar.

In Masonry View

Asset reordering is not available in Masonry mode. Assets are arranged automatically for optimal space.

Context Menu

Right-click any Asset in Gallery View to access the same context menu options available in the Box sidebar:

  • Delete
  • Copy to Clipboard
  • Save As
  • Image Settings (images only)
  • Move to Box

Customize Gallery View behavior in Settings:

  • Gallery scroll behavior: Choose whether the wheel zooms or scrolls by default
  • Hold modifier key: Temporarily switch between zoom and scroll

Configure these in Settings > Controls > Zoom/Scroll.

Tips and Best Practices

Use Gallery View to get a quick overview of your entire Box when you need to find a specific reference.
Open the Gallery View on a second monitor to keep all your references visible while working on your main monitor.
Reorder in Grid View to organize Assets by category, color, or any custom order that makes sense for your workflow.
Switch to Masonry View when working with Assets that have varied aspect ratios for a more compact layout.
